The Koolaburra Story
Koolaburra started in 1991 as a sheepskin footwear brand rooted in Southern California’s coastal culture. In 2015, Deckers Brands brought Koolaburra into the same family as UGG, Hoka, and Teva. A year later, the brand relaunched as Koolaburra by UGG with a clear purpose: bring that familiar UGG warmth and silhouette to a wider audience at an accessible price.
The formula was simple. Soft suede. Plush faux-fur and wool-blend linings. Cushioned insoles. Lightweight outsoles built for real life, not just the living room. Every pair was designed to fit into your day without thinking twice about it. Boots for cold mornings. Slippers that go from the couch to the mailbox. Sandals for easy weekends.
Over the years, the brand built a loyal community of families, students, and comfort-first shoppers who came back season after season. Styles like the Koola Mini, Victoria, and Tipton became cold-weather staples in homes across the country.
In January 2025, Deckers Brands made the decision to focus its portfolio on UGG and Hoka, and Koolaburra’s standalone operations came to a close. The official website shut down on March 31, 2025.
